While Strickland and Kape compete in different divisions, they train at the same gym. The feud kicked off when the reigning middleweight champion insulted Kape’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz. The flyweight then clapped back at Strickland, and he addressed their exchange in a recent interview.
Strickland recently took a shot at Abdelaziz on X, writing, “No f*ck Ali... The only thing that would make me feel better is if he was standing in front of me so I could say it to his face.”
In response, Kape claimed that Strickland only acts tough online. He replied, “Sean, it’s funny how tough you act online when you’re quiet face-to-face. You had the chance to say all that to him in person, but you said nothing. Next time, keep my friend’s name out of your mouth bitch [because] you know how bitch you are bitch.”
Strickland then referenced Kape’s past drug violation controversy in his retort.
“Someone give this little girl a bra.. Manel Acup Kape... Estrogen might be a little high today.. You cycle wrong bro? You OK?”
This drew the following response from Kape:
“The problem is you’ve convinced yourself you’re a bully. You’re not. You were the one getting pushed around. You’re an insecure guy who found confidence through MMA and now mistakes a microphone for courage.”
Kape addressed his online spat with Strickland in an interview with MMA Fighting.
“There is nothing. Some people just talk a lot, and we have to put people in their place. It doesn’t matter what weight class. Some people we have to show who the true people are, who is the bully, and who is not the bully. People confuse sometimes weight with confidence. It’s nothing.” He added, “He wants attention. He loves attention… But we’re all good. We’re all men.”
