The Las Vegas Raiders are ready to kick off training camp under the new regime.

The Las Vegas Raiders training camp reporting dates are official. And, the clock is ticking on what could be the most consequential offseason stretch for this new regime. Rookies will report July 23, with veterans following on July 28.

Las Vegas also has a joint practice with the Houston Texans scheduled for Aug. 18. For a roster that looks significantly improved on paper, the work that gets done between those dates will determine whether the Raiders can turn potential into production.

Why this training camp matters more than most

This camp carries extra weight because the Raiders’ front office faces a genuinely difficult roster-cut process. Trimming from 90 players to 53 is always a challenge, but this year’s roster is deeper and more talented at the back end than anything Las Vegas carried last year. The coaching staff will need every practice rep and all three preseason games to sort through the competition.

It’s also a first for this particular leadership group working together in this capacity. This is head coach Klint Kubiak’s first time navigating the full training camp cycle as a head man, and general manager John Spytek’s second time through the process overall, but his first alongside Kubiak. That dynamic alone makes the next several weeks a learning curve for both men as they collaborate on the toughest roster decisions of the summer.

Building for the hard parts of the season

Training camp never tells the whole story. The Raiders will spend most of their time going against each other, and live reps against other opponents are limited. The joint practice with Houston will provide one of the few chances to measure this roster against outside competition before the regular season.

That said, this is where the hardest work happens. The conditioning, the scheme installation, and the position battles that separate starters from roster cuts. The Raiders’ coaching staff will have a strong sense of whether this team can compete by the time camp wraps up. The foundation for surviving the grind of a 17-game schedule gets poured right here.

The Raiders have a real chance to surprise people

Las Vegas has a chance to be a solid team in 2026, or at the very least to double its win total from a year ago. That bar shouldn’t be too difficult to clear, but clearing it still requires the right pieces falling into place during July and August. The roster improvements mean nothing if the competition in camp doesn’t produce the right 53-man group.

It all starts July 23 when the rookies walk through the door. From there, the Raiders will find out exactly what they have.
