Penn State predicted to land one of top 2027 defensive targets
· Yahoo Sports
It’s clear that Penn State is determined to have a strong secondary in the future, as a good portion of their commits for 2027 are cornerbacks. While this is already the team’s strongest position group in the recruiting class, it hasn’t stopped them from swinging at other corners on the board.
The Nittany Lions have been pursuing three-star cornerback Dhillon McGee for nearly a year now, but they really turned up the pressure in the past few months. They’ve been consistently checking in on him and just hosted him on an official visit two weekends ago.

McGee has narrowed his list down to three schools; Penn State, Texas, and SMU. The Mustangs just joined the race for the three-star cornerback a couple of weeks back, so realistically, this should be a two-team race. Nothing is set in stone yet, but Sam Spiegelman of Rivals recently predicted that McGee will announce his commitment to the Nittany Lions.

The Texas native has been one of Penn State’s top targets for a while now and they could finally land him with McGee’s commitment scheduled to be announced on Wednesday. A verbal agreement would give the team another versatile defensive back who could help lead the secondary in the future.
Penn State is also waiting on decisions from a number of other recruits, but it sounds like McGee will be the next domino to fall.
