Dodgers' Late Rally Falls Short As Orioles Hang On to Win
· Yahoo Sports
The Los Angeles Dodgers almost pulled a rabbit out of the hat and pulled off a ninth-inning rally against the Baltimore Orioles.
The Dodgers scored their first two runs of Saturday night's game in the bottom of the ninth but, with runners on first and third with two outs, Kyle Tucker struck out. That helped the Orioles hang on for dear life and win 3-2 at UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium.

Want to add more insult to injury? Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto was pretty good in his six innings of work. Yet Orioles starter Trevor Rogers was better and more than that in his start for Baltimore.
Tough Luck Loss for YamamotoYamamoto falls to 7-5 with a 2.65 ERA. He went six innings, gave up six hits, three earned runs, walked two, and struck out six. Dodgers relievers Edgardo Henriquez, Alex Vesia, and Jonathan Hernandez kept the Orioles off the scoreboard over the final three innings.
Rogers pitched seven innings of one-hit ball, raising his record to 4-7. Outside of that one hit, Rogers walked two and struck out six. A pitcher with a 5.30 ERA looked to be an easy target for the Dodgers' powerful offense. It didn't materialize.
Two Orioles relievers combined to work a pretty clean eighth inning, and Andrew Kittredge came on in the top of the ninth. Baltimore was hoping that Kittredge could get the job done, but that all changed in his first batter.
Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani hit a leadoff home run, his 16th homer this season, on a blast that cleared the center-field wall. With one out, Freddie Freeman walked. Orioles manager Craig Albernaz pulled Kettridge and brought in Yennier Cano.
Orioles' Bullpen Almost Gave Up GameMookie Betts followed with an infield single, moving Freeman to second base. Now, with two outs, the game probably should have ended on this play but didn't do so. Tommy Edman hit a line shot to Orioles right fielder Leody Taveras. When Taveras looked to close his glove and make the catch, the ball popped out and hit the grass.
Freeman, after looking back for a quick second, crossed home plate and put Los Angeles down by a run at 3-2. With Edman at third now and Betts at first, Tucker had a chance to play hero and send the hometown fans home happy.
Unfortunately, Tucker wasn't able to catch up to two sharp breaking pitches from Cano and struck out. The Orioles got the victory and are now 36-42 this season, sitting in fourth place in the American League East Division.
The Dodgers fall to 49-28, but remain firmly entrenched in first place in the National League West Division.
The two teams will close out the three-game weekend series on Sunday afternoon at UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium.
