Ernie Clement, who is playing second base, has been solid. Andres Gimenez, at shortstop, has not.
Enter the possibility of a trade for Gleyber Torres.
Torres is with the scuffling Detroit Tigers, and if Tarik Skubal does get sent away, so will a bunch of veterans. Torres would be one of them.
MLB.com's Mark Feinsand thinks the Blue Jays could be a fit, naming them as one of three possible teams (Dodgers, Guardians the others) to get Torres before this summer's deadline.
Torres isn't cheap, playing on a $22 million qualifying offer for this season, but the Blue Jays could afford that if they think he can help the order.
He could also do some work at DH if George Springer isn't in the lineup on a given day.
"Another potential trade chip if the Tigers become sellers, Torres is slashing .280/.395/.395 with four home runs and 18 RBIs in 43 games this season," Feinsand wrote on Friday. "The 29-year-old is earning $22.05 million this season after accepting a qualifying offer last offseason, so the Tigers won’t be able to recoup anything for him if he departs as a free agent this winter."

Torres is the former Yankees standout, so Toronto fans will know him well.
His power isn't what it used to be, but he's still a high-quality hitter at the top of the order who can get on base and drive the ball.
For a Blue Jays team that hasn't slugged much this season, Torres' skillset could be quite useful, if a trade does eventually emerge.
