It should come as no surprise that the Los Angeles Dodgers are, once again, gearing up for an active MLB trade deadline as they aim for another World Series title.

For this Dodgers team, it is also not a surprise that they're the club most often tabbed as the most likely suitor in a trade for Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal. The All-Star Cy Young Winner would be the top name on the market if made available.
Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report named a Tigers All-Star's best landing spot as the Dodgers, but it's not Skubal. Instead, it's infielder Gleyber Torres, who would be a very interesting fit in the Dodgers infield.
Dodgers named as best landing spot for Gleyber Torres
"For a team that has literally everything else, second base has been an undeniable sore spot for the Dodgers this year," Rymer writes. "It's been a four-player revolving door at the keystone, and the four have hit to the tune of a combined .249 average and 87 wRC+."
The Dodgers adding a second baseman by the MLB trade deadline on August 3 would not be a surprise, as the combination of Alex Freeland, Miguel Rojas, Enrique Hernandez, Santiago Espinal, and others has left a lot to be desired.
Tommy Edman could return and take control of this spot, as he's in the middle of the rehab assignment right now and might be up in the Majors soon.
But if he comes back and plays another position, or struggles, then someone like Torres would make sense to acquire at the deadline if the Tigers are selling.

The Tigers veteran has a .282 batting average this season and 1.8 bWAR in 40 games played with a .790 OPS and 122 OPS+. If he didn't get hurt and miss a lot of time, he'd be a top All-Star candidate at second base this season in the AL.
Torres would be a nice rental option for the Dodgers, and while he might cost a little bit, he's the kind of player that would fit perfectly in this lineup with superstars all around him.
It wouldn't get the same reaction from fanbases around MLB as a Skubal trade with the Tigers would, but if the Dodgers pulled this Torres trade off, fans should be concerned about the addition as a potentially key one for Los Angeles and Dave Roberts.
