Commanders' assistant has an interesting comparison for offense

"We are aligned, and we are focused on tomorrow."

That is how new offensive passing game coordinator David Raih began responding to Washington ABC 7's Natalie Spala, who was inquiring how the Commanders are preparing for the upcoming season. Raih continued, "And you can feel that. DQ (Dan Quinn) has this whole building operating in the present moment."

It's a big year for the Commanders in general and Quinn in particular, coming off a very disappointing 5-12 season. As for Raih himself, being promoted from tight ends coach to the passing game coordinator, he said it has been "highly stimulating."

"I spent years coaching across the rooms; now my job is really to tie the whole thing together." When asked what his job entails, Raih offered, "Blough (OC David Blough) has a vision, we need to execute it. I've been on the ground level, coached all the rooms. Now, it is like tying it all together. To me, it is so fun. You have the offensive line and all of the protection. Which ties into the quarterback's drop, which then his footwork ties into the primary and secondary receivers, as he works through his progressions."

"So, in the end, what that is, is precision." Raih then quickly made an analogy: an offensive play is much like ballet, with all the moving parts working together, and the offensive players have three seconds to get themselves together in complete unity of movement and timing.

"Ultimately, you want to see precision on game day, and that starts with clarity in how we are all doing things," concluded Raih.

Raih appears to be a good communicator. Wonder how long he will be here in Washington with the Commanders?
