Chelsea legend Joe Cole believes Marcus Rashford could be a smart addition to the Blues if the club can strike the right deal this summer.

Chelsea lost seven of their final nine Premier League games of the 2025/26 season, which effectively obliterated their hopes of qualifying for Europe.
Despite missing out on Europe altogether, Chelsea managed to convince Xabi Alonso to replace Liam Rosenior as permanent manager and are hoping the Spaniard’s arrival can herald a new era.
With the managerial dilemma sorted, Chelsea are now looking to the transfer market to reinforce the squad and bringing in attacking recruits is firmly at the top of their to-do list.
Unlike previous seasons, Chelsea aren’t approaching the transfer window with their usual scattergun tactics but are actively looking to bring in players with plenty of experience under their belt.
On that note, Cole believes Rashford would be a fantastic addition for the Blues and has urged his former employers to take a look at the England international.
“It’s just a matter of the wages and the valuation,” Cole told The Sun. “Rashford ticks a lot of boxes, but you don’t want to spend a fortune on him – he’d do a good job for Chelsea.
“He needs to keep going, Marcus, he needs to keep his confidence up because he rebuilt himself at Barcelona, and there’s still another level for him to jump to.
“He’s someone Chelsea should inquire about, but it’ll depend on the deal.”
Rashford is set to return to Manchester United this summer after a successful loan spell at Barcelona.
He helped the Blaugranas win the La Liga title, contributing 14 goals and 14 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions last season.
With nearly 300 Premier League appearances under his belt, Rashford could be a shrewd acquisition for Chelsea, bringing the x-factor that the Blues have lacked in recent years.
Barca are working on a fresh deal to keep Rashford, who has also been linked with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Newcastle United.
