A popular, multi-purpose eatery in Cape Town is set to shutter its doors.
One Park, situated in the Mother City’s Gardens suburb, was founded in 2022 by Mishka Mahomed and Matt Hichens. Here, customers could wine, dine, listen to vinyl records and peruse an array of artwork.

Sadly, One Park will cease operations at the end of the month.
‘DIFFICULT DECISION’
In an Instagram post shared on Monday, 8 June 2026, One Park revealed that it would be closing when June comes to an end.
“After much consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision to close One Park at the end of June,” the post reads.
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who walked through our doors, supported us, shared a meal, hosted an event, or simply spent time in the space. It has been a privilege to share this with you.”
Details regarding the reason behind its closure have yet to be provided.
ONE PARK INVITES CAPE TOWN TO LAST HURRAH
It’s a sad time for the Western Cape’s food and hospitality industry. Most recently, Stellenbosch-based restaurant Root44 announced its permanent closure.
Back in April, two Japanese eateries in Cape Town also shut their doors for the last time.
Before they close up shop, however, One Park is inviting patrons for one last hurrah.
“We still have a few final events and dance sessions planned throughout this month, and we’d love for you to join us as we celebrate everything One Park has been and the people who made it special,” their post reads.
They signed off the post with a heartfelt thank-you to those who frequented the venue over the years, brief though it was.
“Thank you for being part of the journey, for the memories, conversations and connections that made One Park what it was. While this chapter is coming to an end, we’re thankful for everyone and what we built together along the way.”
CAPE TOWN SAYS GOODBYE
Many folks took to the comment section to thank the One Park crew for their service, while others lamented another loss in Cape Town’s culinary scene.
“Thanks for this chapter of service you’ve given us @matthichens. We’ll never forget what it was. We’ll forever be grateful,” one user wrote.
“Every other week we lose something monumental that’s meant everything to our culture at some point,” another user bemoaned.
