For the past two seasons, Towns has been a pivotal player for the Knicks. In his first season, Towns was a second option to Brunson on offense. He provided little else, as it seemed his role under Tom Thibodeau was unclear.
Under head coach Mike Brown, Towns has been a more impactful player. Early on, Towns did not know his role, but that has changed in the past few months. He has become more of a well-rounded player, and the Knicks' system is humming because of him.

It is hard to go against Barkley because Towns has been phenomenal. He deserves all types of credit, especially when some people have called for Brunson to win the award. Towns has been the Knicks' best player, and he will want to keep this up in Games 3 and 4.
