Studio MDHR made an appearance at Summer Game Fest 2026 with two big game reveals: Mighty Cuphead Adventure and a new hand-animated Cuphead game.

Host Geoff Keighley introduced the new titles before handing the stage to the independent game developer. In typical MDHR fashion, it used a puppet show for the grand reveal, showing off gameplay footage for its pixelated Mighty Cuphead Adventure game, while promising that a hand-drawn Cuphead follow-up is also in early development.

The hand-animated Cuphead game sounds almost like a proper sequel to Studio MDHR's tough-as-nails original platformer from 2017, though the team isn't quite ready to show what it looks like yet. Mighty Cuphead Adventure, however, seems to be further along, and you can see first gameplay for it below.

Where the original Cuphead sucked in players with its commitment to visuals inspired by old-school cartoons, Mighty Cuphead Adventure looks like a more retro-inspired experience. In its first trailer, we can see both Cuphead and Mugman channel the look and feel of 8-bit arcade-style video games.

While the next mainline Cuphead game seems to be a ways off, MDHR wasn't quite ready to announce a release date for its Mighty Cuphead Adventure either. Its trailer also refrained from sharing platforms, only telling fans to expect support on "modern consoles" and "personal computers."

Studio MDHR's two new Cuphead games helped kick off tonight's show. For all of the biggest highlights from the show, you can see everything announced at Summer Game Fest 2026.
