FSU baseball freshman infielder to enter transfer portal

· Yahoo Sports

The FSU Seminoles have lost another freshman to the transfer portal. According to Brett Nevit of Noles247, first baseman Charlie Buckles is entering the portal after one season in Tallahassee.

Buckles did not play in his one season with the Seminoles, taking a redshirt, and will have four seasons of eligibility at his next school. He is the third member of FSU's 2025 recruiting class to leave the program after one season, joining pitcher Manny Lantigua and infielder Kelvyn Paulino Jr, who are both already in the transfer portal.

FSU's first base position will likely look completely different next year. Myles Bailey is expected to be an early pick in the 2027 MLB Draft, and Ben Barrett and Eli Putnam are both out of eligibility. With the transfer portal now open, they could very well solve this hole by grabbing a proven player or by making a late addition through the high school or JUCO ranks.

He is the fifth FSU player to announce he is entering the transfer portal and the third infielder. Outfielder Chase Williams, Lantigua, and infielders Paulino Jr. and Noah Sheffield have also shared their plans to transfer.
