On Monday, UConn women’s soccer announced four additions to its 2026 roster: Téa Reyes, Chloe Shimkin, Morgan Barry and Hrefna Jónsdóttir.
Reyes hails from San Jose, California and has spent the first three years of her collegiate career in her home state. She played two seasons at Folsom Lake, a community college, before transferring to Sacramento State. As a junior, she started all 18 contests and racked up 1,314 minutes with the Hornets. The attacker totaled three goals and an assist while leading the team in shot attempts (45) and shots on target (20).

Meanwhlie, Shimkin returns to the northeast after two seasons at Texas. A native of Rockville Centre, New York, she played in 39 games with the Longhorns, totaling four assists in 1,654 minutes as a defender. She went to IMG Academy and has spent time in the US Youth National Team system as well. Her older sister, Jilly, played alongside her at Texas in 2024 and is now a member of the USL Super League’s Tampa Bay Sun.
Barry comes to Storrs after a pair of seasons at UVM. The defender out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan started all 14 games she appeared in with the Catamounts in 2025 and didn’t pick up a single card. Barry has worn No. 24 every year of her career since youth soccer — a number which is currently open with the Huskies.
Jónsdóttir is the only non-transfer of the bunch. The 19-year-old out of Gardabaer, Iceland is a midfielder who has suited up for the country’s U19 national team and plays for UF Stjarnan at the club level.
UConn has yet to reveal its full freshman class, though they’ll likely need to bring in 10+ players to replace all the departures. The Huskies lost six players to graduation — Chioma Okafor, Anna Carson, Kelly Monaco, Kaitlyn Richins, Abbey Merchant and Lina Dantes — and another six to the transfer portal — Taylor Jenkins (USC), Farrah Stephens-Martin (Syracuse), Isabella Meadows (Maine), Syrai Parker (URI), Kileigh Gorman (Seton Hall) and Brooke Brown (Wyoming).
Head coach Margaret Rodriguez also saw some turnover on her coaching staff. Associate head coach Carey O’Brien — who had been an assistant since the beginning of Rodriguez’s tenure — left to take over the girls’ varsity program at The Loomis Chaffee School. Marin Hearin came on as her replacement following four seasons at UMass. Prior to that, she had made stops at Delaware (2022), NJIT (2015-21), UMBC (2007-09) and various youth clubs.
Last season, UConn went 11-4-3 but just missed out on the NCAA Tournament. The Huskies have not released their schedule for the 2026 campaign, though it usually comes out around this time.
