· Yahoo Sports
Shedeur Sanders may be signed to a multi-million NFL contract, but he is already making more money off the field.
Sanders previously played for Jackson State University (2021-2022) before transferring to the University of Colorado Boulder (2023-2024) to complete his collegiate career. At Colorado, he joined his father, Deion Sanders, who serves as head coach.

NFL Contract
The 24-year-old was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round, as the 144th overall pick, in 2025. According to Spotrac, he signed a four-year deal valued at $4.6 million, including a $447,380 signing bonus.
Earning More Off The Field
Already, he has earned more money than his rookie contract, thanks to group licensing deals — which typically entail jerseys, trading cards, video games, and other collectibles — from the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) for his rookie season, per Sporting News. Sanders reportedly received a $17.7 million royalty check from the NFLPA.
Making History
This marks a record previously held by Tom Brady, who received $9.5 million in the 2021-2022 season, per Sporting News.

An LM-2 annual report filed by the NFL Players Association reveals that Sanders received 13 separate payments for “royalties/player marketing,” NBC reports. The largest payout was $9.2 million and was received on May 16, 2025. The second came in January of this year and totaled $2.1 million.
He reported negotiating the deal while he was playing for the Colorado Buffaloes, and when he was speculated to be a first-round draft pick, per Sporting News.
Sanders is also expected to have a large payout in next year’s LM-2, according to NBC.
Additionally, he has reportedly earned even more. The group licensing income does not include deals he has with Gatorade, Delta Air Lines, Beats by Dre, and Ralph Lauren, according to Front Office Sports. Sanders is reportedly receiving over $20 million in off-the-field earnings.
