In the standings, Germany’s 4-0 World Cup tune-up victory over Finland does not mean anything, but the way the squad feels about its performance could go a long way in helping this unit establish an identity and camaraderie.

Bayern Munich star and Germany captain Joshua Kimmich was very pleased with what he saw.

“We didn’t allow them much over 90 minutes, practically nothing, and deservedly won the game. We wanted to implement our high pressing as often as possible, and that led to a goal through Deniz. We scored a goal from a counter-attack, and we scored from a set piece. It was a mixed bag. We have a lot of talent in our team, and we need to bring that talent onto the pitch every game,” Kimmich said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

Kimmich played a key role aside of his leadership duties. Playing out of position at right-back, Kimmich look extremely good and contributed an assist in the winning effort. Clearly, the captain wants to see his boys build off of this and carry some momentum into the next match against the United States.
