Surprise, surprise, Kentucky Basketball is engaged in a nationally aware race involving one of the top players in the country.

Sarcasm aside, it is both fortunate that the Cats find themselves in this position again.

It’s fortunate because Milan Momcilovic is the top player in the college basketball transfer portal right now, and he would be a huge get if they can land him.

However, it could quickly prove unfortunate, as we’ve seen this play out time and time again in the biggest recruiting moments for Mark Pope and Kentucky.

This time, the pressure is on even more, as they’re competing head-to-head with their rival, Louisville, for the coveted Momcilovic.

The good news? It seems like Kentucky is in the lead as we head into the weekend, but Louisville is very much in the thick of this.

And that’s really what it comes down to: Does Milan want to play here? We’ll see. It makes the most sense on paper, and it seems that Kentucky is the highest offer.

What do you think, will Kentucky land the top player in the portal?

Elsewhere, thanks to a thrilling 6-5 win over Wake Forest to kick off NCAA Tournament play, the Bat Cats are set to take on West Virginia today in the winner’s bracket of the Morgantown Regional!

After narrowly sneaking into the field, Kentucky can take a massive step toward winning the region with a win over the Mountaineers today.

Another layer to this game is the revenge factor for the Wildcats after being ousted from the tournament last year by West Virginia.

A victory today will put one of these teams just one win away from winning the region.
