Man struck and killed on Mississauga highway; man hit by SUV in Scarborough

A man was struck and killed on a busy highway in Mississauga early Saturday.

Ontario Provincial Police say officers responded to a collision involving two vehicles and a pedestrian in the southbound lanes of Hwy. 410, near Derry Rd., shortly after midnight.

“A 48-year-old male from Brampton was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the OPP said in a statement released Saturday, adding “no foul play is suspected.”

All southbound lanes of Hwy. 410 were shut down between Steeles Ave. and Derry Rd. Until 5 a.m. while police investigated.

“The investigation is ongoing,” the OPP said.

MAN HIT BY SUV IN SCARBOROUGH PARKING LOT

A man is fighting for his life after he was hit by an SUV in a Scarborough parking lot late Friday.

Toronto Police say officers responded to the “personal injury collision” near Kingston Rd. and Lawrence Ave. E. around 10:20 p.m.

It is reported that a 52-year-old male was operating a Nissan Rogue in a parking lot in the area,” police said in a statement released Saturday. “An unidentified male was walking through the parking lot at the same time.”

“The pedestrian was struck by the Nissan,” police said, adding the Nissan driver remained at the scene.

The pedestrian was rushed to hospital with “life-threatening injuries.”

The investigation is ongoing.

MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN LESLIEVILLE SHOOTING

A man in his 30s was badly wounded by gunfire in Leslieville on Friday night.

Toronto Police say officers responded to a call for “the sound of gunshots” near Greenwood and Walpole Aves. – north of Gerrard St. E. – just after 9 p.m.

Officers located the victim suffering from “gunshot wounds” and he was rushed to hospital.

The man’s injuries were later determined to be life-threatening.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.

No further details or suspect description was immediately released.
