JUNE 2026 SASSA OLDER PERSON GRANTS

Firstly, and most positively, the next payment date for June 2026 SASSA Older Person Grants falls neatly into the diary: Tuesday 2 June 2026. As such, South African Social Security Agency was authorised by the National Treasury to increase grants by R80 (back in April 2026) to the following:

  • SASSA Old-Age Grants 60 to 74 years old – R2 400 (up from R2 320)
  • SASSA Old-Age Grants 75 years and older – R2 420 (up from R2 340.

Meanwhile, the agency is making bold claims of a maximum wait time of 90 minutes in its queues for June 2026 SASSA Older Person Grants. This is possible due to new smart-queue management technology and self-service kiosks with Wi-Fi for beneficiaries to complete eLife certification and biometric verification. As ever, SASSA cross-references all your data with a host of other departments. This is all part of a strict verification and eligibility process to save money. The agency aims to save R3 billion over two years by cutting grants. This process is imperative for June 2026 SASSA Older Person Grants to save money, even while the former minister faces the ANC’s integrity committee for misconduct.

Therefore, recipients of June 2026 SASSA Older Person Grants must keep personal details up to date with the agency at all times. APPLICATION PROCESS FOR JUNE 2026 SASSA OLDER PERSON GRANTS

New applicants for June 2026 SASSA Older Person Grants may be turned away if the following documents are not in order:

  • Official RSA identity document (ID) preferably a Smart ID Card with digital ID photo.
  • Valid three months’ statement certified by your bank, plus copies.
  • All documents proving your marital status, plus death certificates if necessary.
  • Proof of residence (a utility bill with your name on it, not older than three months).
  • Documents proving your income and/or financial dividends (very important).
  • Comprehensive information regarding assets/valuation of any property you own.
  • Full declaration of any and all private pension in your name.
  • Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) membership book, or discharge certificate from your previous job.
  • A copy of your will, first and final liquidation and distribution accounts if your spouse has passed away in the last five years.

If you’re old, sick or live in a remote rural area you can get help with your June 2026 SASSA Older Person Grants application. Unfortunately, there is no online application form, but a family member or loved one is allowed to help if they have a letter from your doctor. Make sure all of the above documentation is certified by a commissioner of oaths.

SASSA grant applications typically take three months to be approved. And you will be back paid to the date of first application. However, if denied, you have a further three months to appeal the decision HERE.
