If you've been following the Spurs or have even just been watching the NBA Playoffs this spring, you might have noticed a group of nuns on the broadcast or in viral clips online. Those are, in fact, a real group of nuns from the Salesian Sisters and they have been part of Spurs fandom for quite some time.
Back in the late 1990s, a group of Salesian Sisters from St. John Bosco School in San Antonio started following the Spurs in an attempt to connect with their students. From there, their love of basketball and the Spurs deepened until they became a viral sensation over the years. The group was even highlighted by then head coach Gregg Popovich after the team won the 2007 NBA Championship.
Fast forward to 2026 and the Salesian Sisters are still just as invested in the Spurs. They were invited to Game 4 of the Western Conference Final against the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Spurs pulled off a dominant 103-82 victory.
