After clearing waivers, the right-hander decided to deny an outright assignment to Triple-A Norfolk, sending him to free agency.
Albert Suarez is back on the open market after making seven appearances out of Baltimore's bullpen, striking out nine while allowing six earned runs on 14 hits in 19.2 innings.
"This marks the second time this season that Suárez has gone unclaimed on waivers and elected free agency. He quickly re-signed on a new minor league contract last time around," Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors wrote.
"The O’s also non-tendered Suárez back in November, only to eventually re-sign him on another minor league deal," Adams continued. "Given that history, there’s a good chance Suárez will return to the Orioles organization on a new contract before very long."

It appears Suarez impresses the Orioles just enough for them to keep giving him opportunities. However, they see him more as a long-relief guy and an innings eater.
Suarez spent three seasons in Nippon Professional Baseball and two in the Korea Baseball Organization before getting a second chance in the Majors with the Orioles in 2024.
