On the other side of the ball, Atlanta has a strong and deep secondary but otherwise this is one of the weakest units around the NFL. Nevertheless, the Falcons have managed to field an average defense, ranking 15th in yards allowed and 19th in scoring last season.

That's a huge credit to the work of defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, who is on pace to get some head coaching interest next offseason if this unit continues to progress.

Yesterday Ulbrich spoke with NFL Network about the league's Accelerator Program, as well as Atlanta's offseason moves and his role in helping to decide the Falcons' ongoing quarterback competition between Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa. Watch.

However, Pearce got into some major legal trouble when he attacked his girlfriend in a car earlier this offseason. While he appears to be getting off easy with the law, the NFL may still decide to suspend him for several games.

Without Pearce, Ulbrich would lose his one blue chip piece for the defensive front-seven and the entire unit would suffer greatly as a result. To be continued...
