“Civilian witnesses at the scene provided first aid to the victim prior to ambulance, fire and police arrival,” said Halfyard.

“Upon the arrival of ambulance and fire, they took over life-saving measures; however, those live-saving measures were unsuccessful and unfortunately the victim succumbed to his injuries at scene.”

Halfyard said an outstanding suspect, “who we believe is responsible for this homicide,” is being actively sought.

He is a Black man with a medium build, short black hair and a black goatee. He was wearing a white T-shirt with a black zipped-style jacket, florescent green pants, yellow Timberland-style boots and a black watch on his right wrist.

The suspect, who is considered “armed and dangerous,” was last seen at 12:15 p.m. in the Hurontario-Dundas Sts. area. The public is being advised not to approach him and instead call 911.

Halfyard advised the suspect to consult with a lawyer and turn himself in. Cops are also appealing for witnesses or anyone who was driving in the area and has dashcam footage to contact them.

Schools in the area were placed in a hold-and-secure out of a precaution while cops searched for the suspect. It has since been lifted.

“This is obviously very concerning,” said Halfyard.
