SHELBYVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — Already a two-time IHSA state champion and an Iowa track and field commit, Shelbyville’s Will Nohren is enjoying his final moments of high school sports.
Nohren, a senior for the Rams, jumped a personal best and a top-ten national mark of 7.25′ on the high jump during the indoor season. This outdoor season, he has already matched his state-winning high jump mark and out-jumped his long jump mark.

When asked how a nationally-ranked jumper leaves his mark on a town of less than 5,000 people, Nohren said his focus is on remembering the fun in jumping and why he does what he does.
“I really want to teach my teammates that in order to do good, you really got to have fun and just you got to enjoy your sport before you can really get better,” said Nohren. “I mean, at the end of the day, if you don’t like going out there and doing it every day, that you’re not going to have the motivation to get better.”
Nohren and the Rams will start competition at the IHSA Class 1A Tuscola Sectional on Wednesday, May 20.
