Bayern Munich star Manuel Neuer gets MRI after FC Köln win, calf issue ‘not serious’
· Yahoo Sports
Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was removed from his team’s 5-1 victory over FC Köln due to a calf issue. That scenario left fans of Bayern Munich feeling a little uneasy given next weekend’s DFB-Pokal finale, but Bild (via @iMiaSanMia) is reporting that Neuer’s injury is “not serious”:

Manuel Neuer was taken directly for an MRI scan after today’s trophy ceremony. The results of the scan will decide his availability for the DFB Pokal final and the World Cup. The initial diagnosis was that the injury is not considered serious. The plan is to wait one to two days to see how the calf reacts.
This is good news for Bayern Munich and Neuer alike — and maybe for the German national team, too. Giving Neuer a few extra days to rest and recuperate cannot hurt.
If, however, back-up goalkeeper Jonas Urbig needs to play, the youngster will be poised and ready to go for the Bavarians. Urbig has been excellent this season when filling in for Neuer.
