The injuries the New York Mets have dealt with on both sides of the baseball this year have definitely been part of the reason why this team has struggled. However, just as every fan knows, there are a lot more issues than just the injuries the Mets have dealt with.

Unfortunately, New York hasn't been able to do anything well, and the injuries only add to that. It feels like salt being added to a wound, and something that doesn't seem like it's going to change anytime soon.

For the Mets to play as well as they're hoping for, Francisco Lindor has to be on the field. I understand that some fans are frustrated with him, but this is still one of the better players in baseball when things are going well.

However, the latest injury update on the All-World shortstop was far from ideal, to say the least.

“We won’t know until we see the results of the MRI,” he said, per SNY. “We need to get it over the next 48 hours or so and once we get that, we’ll get our doctors to map out a plan.”

It's gotten to the point with the Mets that it's probably better to just hold off on Lindor.

Unless they have full belief that he's healthy, there's just no reason to risk anything. He's still on a massive contract that doesn't end until 2031, so rushing anything here could only make things worse for a Mets team that needs something to start going its way.

“Stearns also said the team isn’t concerned that Lindor’s injury could impact his Achilles,” John Flanigan wrote.
