Beckett Grand paces Bemidji in Detroit Lakes, Brainerd tournaments

May 11—DETROIT LAKES — Beckett Grand has everything working on the links right now.

After a slow start to his sophomore season, the Bemidji High School boys golf team's lone state participant from a year ago has found a rhythm. He took 10th place individually at Detroit Lakes' loaded Northwest Classic, a two-day tournament. Grand finished with a combined score of 150 at 3-over par. BHS finished with a team total of 617, good for sixth place. It trailed first-place Holy Family Catholic by 26 strokes.

Grand also led Bemidji in Brainerd on Monday, shooting a 74 in 19th place to help the Lumberjacks finish seventh as a team with a total of 302.

Drew Valley had the second-best score among the Jacks in Detroit Lakes at 153, good for 18th. Axel Burlingame took 25th place with a score of 156, while Jackson Fogelson finished 32nd (158). Graham Fish (163, 48th place) and Logan Brink (168, 63rd) rounded out the day for Bemidji.

At Cragun's Legacy Courses in Brainerd, Fogelson finished one shot behind Grand with a 76 in 25th place. Brink shot a 76 to finish 28th, while Valley and Burlingame each shot 77 to tie for 34th. Fish also shot an 81 to tie for 51st.
