RPF of NFR Recovers Over Rs 2.45 crore Through Anti-Smuggling, Ticket Checking and Enforcement Operations in April 2026

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) continued its sustained efforts towards strengthening passenger security, curbing unlawful activities and ensuring a safe railway environment across the zone during April 2026. During the month, RPF/NFR registered 3081 cases under various sections of the Railways Act and prosecuted more than 3000 offenders for unlawful activities across railway premises. RPF also assisted in ticket checking drives leading to detection of 1074 ticketless travellers and recovery of fines exceeding Rs. 10 lakh.

In a major enforcement achievement, RPF/NFR detected 33 narcotics smuggling cases involving ganja, brown sugar and cough syrup collectively valued at over Rs. 2.35 Cr. Additionally, 15 persons were arrested in connection with illicit liquor smuggling cases. In anti-touting operations, four touts were arrested with seizure of 47 railway tickets worth over Rs. 1.43 lakh. Further, 32 persons involved in theft of railway property were apprehended with recovery of stolen railway materials valued at more than Rs. 2.10 lakh.

As part of its ongoing efforts to ensure passenger safety and security, RPF/NFR apprehended 28 persons involved in theft of passenger belongings and recovered stolen items including 44 mobile phones worth over Rs. 6.19 lakh. The force also arrested three persons involved in stone pelting incidents on running trains and apprehended 16 illegal immigrants during the month. Additionally, 113 left-behind luggage items worth around Rs. 1.40 Cr were recovered and returned to passengers after proper verification. On an average, 53 trains were escorted daily by RPF personnel to ensure passenger security across the zone.

Demonstrating its humanitarian commitment alongside enforcement activities, RPF rescued 80 minor boys and girls along with four women and safely handed them over to Childline, NGOs, parents and police authorities. RPF/NFR also remained actively engaged in cleanliness and public assistance initiatives, during which 1596 persons were prosecuted for littering railway premises. Anti-encroachment drives were also carried out at several locations across the zone to ensure smooth and safe railway operations.
