The Cubs' broadcasters interviewed Robertson during the team's seven-run fourth inning against the Reds.
Robertson, 87, also sang "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" during the seventh-inning stretch.
"I gotta ask him when I get him in the hallway, 'What's with the Chicago Cubs gear?'" Reds.TV analyst Chris Welsh said during the broadcast. "But what a player. What a gentleman."
Robertson was asked for his thoughts about the expansion of the NCAA Tournament to 76 teams.
"They probably want more money," Robertson said.
Robertson also shared a memory about National Baseball Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson during the interview.
Robertson spent most of his NBA career with the Cincinnati Royals and played his final four seasons for the Milwaukee Bucks.
