It’s certainly been an interesting offseason for Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers as Rodgers mulls his decision, leaving fans, media, and even largely the team in the dark about his future. Now, it seems like Rodgers pulled off a bit of a surprise for the Steelers.
On Thursday morning, 93.7 The Fan reported that the future Hall of Fame quarterback will be visiting Pittsburgh on Thursday and is “expected” to sign with the Steelers this weekend. This visit was seemingly confirmed by NFL insider Ian Rapoport, though he said that “no deal is in place.”

While this is certainly a positive sign in terms of the continued talks between Rodgers and the Steelers, it sounds like the Steelers weren’t exactly informed of this visit or that he planned to re-sign with the team, as 93.7 reported.
According to a report from Mark Kaboly, the Steelers correspondent for The Pat McAfee Show, the team “has not been informed of this development.”
“If Aaron Rodgers is coming to town with the intent to sign with the Steelers this weekend, he forgot to tell somebody important — the Steelers. The organization has not been informed of this development. That’s not to say that it can’t happen or that it isn’t imminent. There are still some things to work through, but there is a belief that it will happen … eventually,” Kaboly wrote in a post on X on Thursday morning.
Whether the team was informed about his intentions or not, this would seem to be a step in the right direction, allowing the two sides to work together to come up with some answers regarding his future with the team and in the league.
Of course, there are some questions about whether or not Rodgers’ return to the team would actually be a good thing in the long run, but they do need some answers one way or another. So his sudden arrival for a visit was likely a positive surprise for the Steelers’ front office.
