The St. Louis Cardinals begin a four-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday night.
Currently, the Cardinals are in a stretch where they play 17 games in 17 days. To ensure all of their pitching staff are healthy, they've decided to call up an arm from Triple-A.
According to Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat, Cardinals manager Oli Marmol informed reporters that right-hander Hunter Dobbins will make a spot start against the Pirates on Thursday.
Dobbins, a former pitching prospect, was acquired in the trade that sent Willson Contreras to the Boston Red Sox during the offseason. Thursday's game will be his Cardinals debut, since he tore his right ACL last July and missed the rest of the 2025 season.

In 13 games (11 starts) with the Red Sox, Dobbins posted a 4.13 ERA with 61 hits allowed in 61 innings. He walked just 6.6% of the batters he faced but struck out only 17.6%.
He's managed to bump up the strikeout rate to 19.8% across five Triple-A starts. But Dobbins' first real test will come Thursday.
A solid start could help the 26-year-old earn additional future outings in the Majors with the Cardinals.
