Saturday was more of the same for LSU baseball. A day after LSU lost in extra innings after blowing a lead in the ninth inning, a similar story played out. The Tigers held a 7-2 lead going into the seventh inning on Saturday, but a Mississippi State grand slam tied it up. State would take a two-run lead in the ninth and LSU was unable to come back.

The LSU offense was able to produce once again, but the Tigers had three errors as they were back to their old ways defensively. William Schmidt got the start in this game but was pulled after four innings of work. He gave up two runs on three hits, five strikeouts, and three walks. LSU fails to finish again

The Tigers have blown leads in two straight games vs the Bulldogs. Those two wins could have won LSU the series, but now they have lost the series and are in danger of getting swept on Sunday. These were big missed chances for LSU, who sorely needed some quality wins.

More errors

The Tigers committed three errors tonight as they were back to their old ways defensively. This is an issue that I was hoping LSU would be able to work out as the season moved along, but unfortunately, that was not the case.

Serna Jr. led the way once again

Omar Serna Jr. led the way for the Tigers from the plate once again. He finished the game 3-for-5 with a homer, a double, and two RBI. The freshman catcher is having his best series of the year.
