Bayern Munich exec denies Manuel Neuer agreed on new deal

Earlier on Friday, Abendzeitung’s Maximilian Koch released a report stating that Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer had reached a new deal with the club that will keep him in place in Bavaria through the end of the 2026/27 season,

However, Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has denied the claim.

“This is the first I’ve heard of that; I don’t know where this comes from. It’s mid-April, and we haven’t had that conversation with him yet. We’ve always said the same thing, we’re in contact with Manu. He’ll make a decision in his timeline. We’ll make an announcement when the time comes. But we haven’t had that conversation yet,” said Freund (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

At this stage, it is hard to know where the truth lies, but there would be a lot of motivation for a journalist to release a scoop based on quality information. Conversely, the club has a million reasons to not let news flow out with our going through the normal channels.

While no one knows anything at this point, Neuer’s recent performances might give him an incentive to run it back one more time.
