Heavyweight division prepares for the arrival of Gable Steveson, the UFC’s latest prospect
Gable Steveson is set to make his way into the UFC heavyweight ranks, and expectations are already high.
Having started his career without a loss, Steveson is now bringing his growing skillset to the Octagon.

He has officially joined the UFC and is scheduled to debut during International Fight Week in July, which could be headlined by Conor McGregor’s long-awaited return.
Though he only has three MMA bouts under his belt, one former champion has already spoken up with a strong opinion about what lies ahead for him.

After taking a nasty head kick but still managing to finish Hugo Lezama at Mexico Fight League 3, Steveson improved to 3-0 in MMA. That performance opened the door for his move to the UFC.
With one of the most impressive wrestling backgrounds you could ask for, plenty of people believe the 25-year-old will make an immediate impact at the top level. His mentor Jon Jones has even gone as far as to say that Steveson could win a title before the end of 2026.
Steveson doesn’t lack self-belief either. He’s said he feels ready to compete with current heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, as well as interim title hopefuls Alex Pereira and Ciryl Gane.
Tyron Woodley has doubled down on that belief. The former welterweight champion recently stated that Steveson would dominate Aspinall if they faced off right now.
Speaking to talkSPORT BET, Woodley said: “Gable Stevenson will become heavyweight champion. He can do it this year if he wants to.
“Tom Aspinall will get tortured by Gable right now. Tom looked sloppy against Ciryl Gane before he got poked in the eye. Gable has got powerful hands, all his fights are finishes. He has crazy wrestling, crazy athletic ability.
“He’s hungry,” Woodley continued. “You think he’s still happy about losing the NCAA championship in the last three seconds? Hell no.
“I don’t see a matchup in the UFC now at heavyweight that he does not win.”
The UFC debutant is still waiting for an opponent confirmation at UFC 329 on July 11th.
Aspinall is also not active after undergoing double eye surgery earlier this year, from damage sustained in his previous fight with Ciryl Gane back in October of last year.
