🥎GAME OF THE DAY
Nethania Figueroa hit the game-tying home run in the seventh and three batters later, Trinity Provencher came through with a walk-off double that gave the Townies a 4-3 win over Prout.
Prout scrapped up one run in the first and after East Providence tied the score, scored the go-ahead run in the fourth on a Frankie Smith bunt single before getting some insurance on an RI single by Sara Slitt in the fifth.
Down to their last at-bat, the Townies rallied in the bottom of the seventh. Maura Roche hit a one-out double to spark things and that was followed by Figueroa’s titanic shot to left. With two outs, Audrey Bernard hit a single and Provencher came through with a double to left that plated pinch-runner Bella Paneto with the game-winning run.
Provencher had two hits, drove in one and scored another and Figueroa’s two RBI led the team. Cassandra Dulude threw three innings of one-run, three-hit relief and picked up the win.
Mia Boyajian had two hits and scored one run in the loss. Lily Sheehan was solid in the circle in the loss, striking out 11.
⚾BASEBALL - Division II
Narragansett 6, Burrillville 4
Zayden Kent struck out 11 batters through five innings, and allowed just two runs, with two hits, to lead the Mariners over the Broncos. Kent also helped his own cause, driving home two runs with a single in the first inning.
But the hosts did not go without a fight, plating a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh before Finley Hohl was able to close the door with a pair of strikeouts.
Drez Owens and Vito Paglia each scored twice for Narragansett, while Hohl, Aidan Clancey and Riley Cronin each had a pair of hits in the win.
Trailing by four runs in the final frame, Burrillville made one final push when Zackary Laplume (two RBIs) singled home a run and Tim Casserly hit into a fielder's choice to plate another, narrowing the deficit to two. But that was as close as the Broncos would get, with Hohl striking out the final batter of the game.
Middletown 10, Central 1
It was the Cam Carlisle show Monday afternoon as the visiting Islanders' starter struck out 10 batters, allowing just two hits and one run through five innings. At the plate, Carlisle led Middletown batters by going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
That was all the offense Middletown would need, but they got plenty more. Mike Lisella drove in a pair, and scored twice, and Evan Agren was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Middletown relievers Agren and Colton Kerrison finished up with two scoreless innings.
The Knights were led by Maikel Alcantara Gomez, who was 2-for-3 with an RBI in the loss.
Chariho 5, Johnston 2
The Chargers took the lead early and padded it late while holding off the Panthers at Johnston Memorial Park.
Chariho plated two runs on an error in the second, a single run in the fourth and two more in the seventh to open up what had been just a 3-2 advantage. Landon Sumner closed 3-for-4 with an RBI, Gavyn Pepler added two hits and Rohan Downing drove in a run to key the attack.
Dominic Andrade turned in six strong innings to pick up the victory for the Chargers (7-2), allowing just five hits and a lone walk while striking out four. Jake Rankin drove in both runs for Johnston (2-4) thanks to a hit in the fourth.
Toll Gate 3, North Providence 1
The Titans used one key inning on offense and let Brady Fales handle the rest while knocking off the Cougars.
Toll Gate did all its scoring in the bottom of the third, plating three unearned runs – the first came on a North Providence error. Paul Doyle was hit by a pitch to earn an RBI the hard way and Brayden Randall brought home another on a fielder’s choice.
That was enough for Fales, who allowed a Mike Ryan sacrifice fly in the first and nothing else. He scattered three hits and struck out three while working 6 2/3 strong frames. It was a second straight win for the Titans (2-4-1) and a third game in a row unbeaten – the Cougars (4-3) dropped their second straight.
⚾BASEBALL - Division III
Woonsocket 15, Davies 0
The Villa Novans wasted no time jumping out to an early lead and never letting up. And with Braylon Guilbeault on the bump, the offense proved more than enough to earn the W.
Guilbeault struck out 11 in five no-hit, shutout frames (mercy-rule shortened contest). He was one walk away from a perfect fame.
And he was a factor at the plate, as well, going 2-for-5 from the leadoff spot, with two runs scored and an RBI. Patrick Munger, Julian DeJesus and Jordan Plante each drove in a pair of runs, with Cesar Vazquez Jr. and Ty Chhourn each collecting three hits on the day.
Woonsocket remains atop the Division III standings with a perfect 9-0 record so far this season.
Exeter-West Greenwich 21, Classical 0
The Scarlet Knights banged out 13 hits and had the patience to take 11 walks, helping EWG rolled over the Purple.
Tyler Medeiros and Josh Larned would lead the way at the plate in the win. Medeiros went 4-for-5 at the plate, walked, and stole two bases and Larned was 3-for-3 with a game-high five RBI.
Starting pitcher JJ Langlais, despite being the beneficiary of the Scarlet Knights' offense, did not take his foot off the gas. In the game that was shortened to five inning due to the mercy rule. The righty allowed five hits and zero runs while striking out six along to pick up the easy win.
North Smithfield 23, Times2 3
Ten first-inning runs by the Northmen set the tone early in this one, as North Smithfield rolled past Times2.
Nick Tremblay was nearly unstoppable at the plate – 3-for-4 with seven RBIs and four runs scored – and Dylan Nickerson was 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored. Wyatt Pullen drove in three and scored twice, while Sam Garrepy and William Kline each drove in a pair.
Marshall Harris went the distance (five innings) for North Smithfield, striking out nine and allowing three runs and one hit in the win.
John Cruz recorded the lone hit for Times2, and he and Victor Pizarro each had an RBI in the loss.
⚾BASEBALL - Nonleague
Fairhaven (MA) 7, Moses Brown 2
The host Quakers struck first, when back-to-back singles by Eli Quackenbush and David Murphy brought home two runs in the home half of the third inning.
But the visiting Blue Devils would answer in the top of the fourth with three runs of their own, and tack on four more before the final out. Nick Lajoie, Evan LaMontagne and Jackson Williams each scored two runs as the visitors outhit Moses Brown 7-5.
For the Quakers, Quackenbush collected a team-high two hits and starting pitcher Will Haggerty struck out eight through five innings, giving up four hits and one earned run in the loss.

🥎SOFTBALL – Division I
North Kingstown 12, Kent County 2
Ella Mezzanotte’s two-run double highlighted a five-run four that helped the Skippers put Kent County away for good in the 12-2 win.
Kent County had a big swing early, as Sophia Moreira hit a two-run homer in the first inning to get the Division II squad some confidence up against Division I North Kingstown.
The Skippers came right back with three in the bottom half, with Mezzanotte tying the game with an RBI single before Kylah LeComte drove in one with an RBI single. Still up 3-2 in the fourth, NK’s first six batters reached via walk, hit or error, with Mezzanotte capping the five-run inning with an RBI double.
Mezzanotte finished the game going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Amelia Fries finished 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI and Gabby Peralta was 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Mia D’Andrea scored two runs in the win.
Moreira had the two RBI for Kent County and Grace Gallo scored the other run.
Bay View 14, Cumberland 3
Alexa Fredricks had another strong performance in the circle and Emma Chase’s home run highlighted a big day for the offense in the Bengals’ 14-3 win.
Fredricks got roughed up in the first inning, giving up three runs, but settled in after that and kept Cumberland from getting another run across the plate. Bay View’s offense game together and tied the game in the third, then took the lead with a two-run fourth before exploding for nine in the fifth, two off the bat of Chase.
Chase, a freshman, finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Hope Myers went 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI and Kristina DeCotis went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs. Fredricks helped her cause, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Myla DeMartino, Tessa Nicastro and Maddie Casevant scored the runs for the Clippers.
Chariho 3, La Salle 1

🥎SOFTBALL – Division II
Johnston 4, Ponaganset 0
Haley Boudreau had her most dominant appearance to date, setting down Chieftains faster than they could get to the plate in the Panthers’ 4-0 win.
Boudreau gave up a two-out single to Ponaganset’s Hayleigh Mooney and then decided that was enough. She walked consecutive batters with one out in the third, got a ground out, then proceeded to strike out the next 13 batters of the game.
Johnston got all the offense it needed in the third, scoring on an error then on a two-run double by Savannah Paquin. The Panthers were also helped by Samaya Imondi, who finished the game 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run.
Boudreau’s line spoke volumes, as she threw all seven innings, giving up one hit and two walks while striking out a season-best 19. Ponaganset starter Mattea Mello had a solid performance, giving up two earned runs, six hits and finishing with 13 strikeouts.
BNS 15, Central Falls 2
Alivia Laberge had a big day from the back of the order, leading the Broncos in a 15-2 win over the Warriors.
BNS gave up one run to Division-III Central Falls in the first, then put the game away before the second inning started. The Broncos scored 13 runs in the bottom half of the inning, two off the bat of Laberge.
Laberge, hitting eighth in the order, finished the day 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Ensley Nault went 1-for-2 with two RBI and two runs and Alivia Fatoni went 2-for-2 with one RBI and one run. Olivia Audette went 1-for-1 with two RBI and two runs, Samia Shakan scored twice and drove in one run and Serenity Stanley scored a pair in the win.
Harlow Morrissey went 2-for-2 with one run in the loss.
🥎SOFTBALL – Division III
Exeter-West Greenwich 17, Pawtucket 2
The Scarlet Knights hit, hit and hit some more, making quick work of Pawtucket in a 17-2 win.
EWG scored four times before Pawtucket could grab a bat, added one in the second and then exploded for nine runs in the third inning.
Freshman Taylor Childers had herself a day, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Classmate Lainey Haskell was 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI and Alayna Chipman went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Brielle Frenette scored two and drove in two for the Knights and Madison Sherman scored three times and had two RBI in the win.
Gianna Quinones had two hits and one RBI in the loss for Pawtucket.
Davies 25, Times2 8
Brooke Barnes had herself a day, leading a Patriots’ offense that put up 20 in the final two innings in its 25-8 win over the Eagles.
Davies scored five runs in the first two innings, but a six-run attack from Times2 in the bottom of the second had the visitors trailing going to the third. The Patriots came up with an answer in a big way, scoring 12 times in the third before adding eight in the fourth to bring the 12-run rule into play.
Barnes finished the day 3-for-3 with two doubles, four RBI and five runs. Maci Linton went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs in the win and Zoe Robinson finished 2-for-3 with four runs and one RBI. Darelyn Maldonado drove in three and scored twice and Ayla Burlingham and Allyson O’Regan both scored twice.
Soriah Caminero led Times2 with two RBI and Kailyn Arias and Patrice Smith both scored two runs.

🥍BOYS LACROSSE - Division I
South Kingstown 20, Prout 8
The Rebels held just a 3-2 lead after one quarter but steadily pulled away while taking care of the Crusaders in a nonleague rivalry matchup.
South Kingstown (5-3, Division I) enjoyed an 11-5 cushion by halftime and clamped down defensively from there to ensure the result. Hampton Hubbard powered the offense with seven goals while Blake Riley added five and William Costello hit for a hat trick.
John Gaffney did half the scoring for Prout (2-5, Division II), collecting four goals and Maddox Keramidas added a pair for the Crusaders, who will host the Rebels in a Saturday rematch on campus.

Prout 15, Chariho 14
In a closely contested match, Prout ruled the first half and and had several large leads, ending the half ahead at 11-6. But in the second frame, Chariho battled back and outscored the Crusaders, 8-4. But even with that rally the Chargers fell one goal short.
Lizzie Hill topped Prout scorers with six tallies and teammate Pillar Murphy had four goals with three assists to lead the way. Madison Bogdon and Caroline Crupe also figured in the win with 3 goals and 2 goals, respectively. Goalie Alicia McCarthy had 8 saves.
For the Patriots, Kayden Jaillet had six goals and Alexis Comella had 4 more goals in the loss. Netminder Ava Laird recorded 7 seven saves.
🥍GIRLS LACROSSE - Division II
Westerly 15, Middletown 0
The Bulldogs kept rolling atop the standings with this shutout victory over the Islanders.
Gianna Falcone led the attack with four goals and three assists. Macy Antoch bagged a hat trick, Phoebe Brennan collected two goals and two assists and Casey Macera chipped in two goals and one assist.
Westerly (7-0) and Burrillville share the league lead with identical perfect records. Middletown (0-7) will host Cumberland next time out hoping for a Thursday night breakthrough.
Cumberland 19, Cranston West 8
Lucy Biggs notched a career milestone during a dominant offensive performance and the Clippers handed the Falcons their first league loss of the season in impressive fashion.
Biggs piled up eight goals for the winners, including the 100th of her career. Hadley Henderson added four goals and two assists while Ella Mancuso and Bowie Legend each fired home a hat trick for Cumberland (5-1).
Ashley Budano and Kennedy Carr each finished with a hat trick for Cranston West (6-1), which had captured its first six matches. Liliana Ricci made 11 saves in net for the Falcons.

Neither team had a third doubles tandem available to play so the match was decided by overall games as the tiebreaker. North Smithfield wins with a 58-51 lead in games.

Armando Ramirez led the Cavaliers with nine kills and one block, and Eli Torres added five aces and eight kills in the win (25-11, 25-21, 25-15).
For the Panthers, Christopher Dipanni had eight kills and 10 digs, and Michael Mills made 14 assists in the loss.
Central 3, Pilgrim 0
Pablo Valdez recorded 15 kills and 4 aces helping the Knights sweep the Patriots, 25-16, 25-17, 25-23.
Caden Stowik was good for 5 kills for the Patriots in the loss.
West Warwick 3, Portsmouth 0
The tandem of Mike Gallo and Alex Osmena were keys to the Wizards' win (25-16 25-15 25-14) over the Patriots. Gallo recorded 14 kills and Alex Osmena Wass good for 6 kills and 5 aces.
For Portsmouth, Nico Colantuono had 10 kills 4 block 3 digs and Jacob Labonte had 4 kills 3 aces and 1 block in the loss.
🏐BOYS VOLLEYBALL - Division III
Burrillville 3, Davies 2
Strong play by Nomar TorresLuna (10 kills and 2 Aces), Grant Godzwon (5 kills, 2 aces, and 17 digs), Gustavo Santos (2 Aces, 5 kills, 17 digs) and Omar Espinal Moreno (20 Digs) paved the way for the Broncos win.
Despite the loss, Davies had solid outings from Glen Andrade (11 kills, 2 aces), Desean Jackson (8 kills, 4 blocks) and Santiago Giraldo Marin (23 digs, 2 aces).
Burrillville 3, Block Island 1
In Burrillville's second match of the day, Nomar Torres Luna paced the Broncos with 10 kills and 21 digs, Cayden Closson had nine kills, three aces and 18 assists, and Gus Santos recorded 38 digs as Burrillville won 24-26, 25-11, 25-22, and 25-23.
For the Hurricanes, Colin Lansek had 10 kills and four blocks, Ford Earnest made seven kills and three blocks, and Zioma Farges had 15 assists in the loss.
Pawtucket Co-op 3, Woonsocket 0
Bryan Leon recorded 8 kills, 4 digs and 1 block, Mike Senepha was good for 5 kills, 6 digs, 1 ace and 1 block and Myles Carter dished off 21 assists also had 3 aces in the Pawtucket Co-op's win (25-12, 25-21, 25-20) over the Villa Novans.
Woonsocket did not report any stats.
