The Los Angeles Lakers secured a win in their opening game of the first round against the Houston Rockets on Saturday night. They were led by Luke Kennard in scoring and LeBron James everywhere else on the floor. James’ performance showed he meant what he said earlier in the week about being excited for this playoff run.

““It’s going to be litty. It’s going to be crazy. I’m looking forward to it. I mean me personally like I don’t know how many more postseasons I got left in my career. And we talked about this a while ago, like getting ready for the postseason, like that moment, like it doesn’t matter what you did in the regular season. That sh*t is out the window now. Like it. Doesn’t matter. Like it starts again. This is it. So, I’m excited, man. I can’t wait,” James said.
James also made history on Saturday night with his son, Bronny James, becoming the first father-son duo to compete in an NBA playoff game together.
“Bronny James made his playoff debut at the start of the second quarter during Saturday’s Game 1 in Los Angeles. Alongside his dad. With LeBron James already on court, the James duo became the first father-son pairing to play in the same NBA playoff game,” NBA.com wrote.
After the game, LeBron made it clear how he felt about sharing the floor with Bronny on their historic night.
“There’s a lot of crazy things that have been going on this year for me. I mean, sh*t, I was on the floor with my son in a playoff game. That’s probably the craziest thing that’s ever happened to me in my career....My mom gets to watch her son and her grandson during the playoffs. Now, that’s crazy,” James told the media.
Bronny did not appear in the second half for the Lakers, but the moment the two shared was special. Making history while also getting the win made it even more meaningful.
Los Angeles’ defense was outstanding, and the way LeBron distributed the ball on offense highlighted his versatility. The duo will continue to create memories as the playoffs go on—Saturday night was just the beginning.
