Araujo says he spoke to Foden after the game and all is well between the two players.
“It was a hard tackle, but obviously I went for the ball without any intention. After the game, I sent him a message, he said he was fine and that it’s just part of football. Things are often blown out of proportion, because it’s clear I was going for the ball. Everyone knows me and knows I’m not malicious,” he said, via Marca.
“I saw the replay afterward. It’s true that if you pause the camera it’s very strong , but I went in with the intention of going for the ball, and the referee and VAR were on the field. The important thing is that I spoke with him, he told me it was nothing and that these things happen in football. I’m taking that away from it.”
Uruguay and Araujo play again on Tuesday against Algeria in another friendly.
