Former Texas A&M's CB could be a late-round NFL Draft 'steal'
· Yahoo Sports
After Texas A&M finished the 2025 season with a 11-2 record, culminating in the Aggies' first appearance in the College Football Playoff, 13 starters from the 2025 roster were invited to the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, including two-year starting cornerback Will Lee III, who served as one of coach Mike Elko's first transfer additions after he was hired in late 2024.

One of the taller and longer cornerbacks in the SEC, officially measured at 6'1 1/2", 189 pounds, with 32 3/4" arms at the combine, Lee's 2025 season was statistically his best, finishing with a career high 50 tackles and his first sack, paired with eight pass deflections after producing ten deflections last season. Per Pro Football Focus, Lee finished with a solid 68.5 coverage grade, allowing 32 receptions for 520 yards and four touchdowns.
Overall, inconsistency is a problem for nearly every cornerback in the country, no matter their testing numbers at the combine, and while Lee is considered fifth or sixth round selection, it was revealed that one NFL scout believes the former Kansas State transfer could become one of the steals in the 2026 draft during the latter round on Day 3, simliar to former Texas A&M CB Jaylon Jones, who has since starred for the Indianapolis Colts.
“Lee was a consistent performer throughout college and jumps off the tape in press coverage… That talent was on display at the Senior Bowl, too.”
In the NFL, specific schemes require elite length along the boundary, especially in Cover 3 looks, making Will Lee a likely late-round target for a long list of NFL teams who need immediate depth in the secondary, while looking to develop a potential star in the making.
The 2026 NFL Draft will begin on Thursday, Apr 23, 2026, and continue through Saturday, Apr 25.
