The Denver Broncos have re-signed several of their own free agents this offseason while also trading for Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. That was considered a big upgrade for the offense, but was it enough?

The tight end position is considered to be weak by many analysts and the Broncos were expected to address that in a big way this offseason. Most people didn't expect that by addressing it, the team would re-sign every player from that position last season.

Evan Engram did not provide the offensive spark that many expected him to and behind him, the Broncos have a couple of guys in Adam Trautman and Nate Adkins who are going to be much better at the things you don't see, like blocking, than anything you do see. Lucas Krull was also brought back after catching just two passes all season.

It's been an underwhelming offseason at tight end for the Broncos, but as Zachary Pereles of CBS Sports explains, there are still options out there to fix that. He suggests that the Broncos either sign veteran free agent David Njoku or draft Vanderbilt's Eli Stowers.

"Evan Engram had a quiet first year in Denver, and even after trading for Jaylen Waddle, the Broncos could look to upgrade their pass catchers around Bo Nix. Njoku is more of a powerful player, but perhaps Stowers, a quarterback-turned-tight-end, could fit the bill better. He delivered major production in college and wowed at the combine. This roster doesn't have many true holes -- and tight end really isn't one, either -- but either option could add some versatility", wrote Pereles.

Njoku is an older option. He will turn 30 years old in July and after spending nine seasons in Cleveland, he is looking for a new home. Sean Payton would love the option of having a great two-headed monster at tight end, but there's nothing to suggest that Njoku would bring the Broncos anything more than Engram did last year. It seems like a better move to bring in a young player to help push the veteran Engram and develop behind him.

That brings Stowers into the discussion and there is no doubt that he makes plenty of sense for the team. More like a big slot receiver than a tight end, Stowers would give Bo Nix a big new weapon to mix into the offense. The Broncos would likely have to use their second-round pick (No. 62 overall) to get him, especially since the team does not have a third-round pick.

But is tight end really the team's biggest need? That's debatable. The team will have plenty to consider, but keeping the exact same tight end room as last season is a strong possibility.
