‘It’s about time’ — Joshua Kimmich looking forward to exorcising Bayern Munich’s Real Madrid demons
· Yahoo Sports
In his 11-year-long stint at Bayern Munich, Joshua Kimmich is yet to be on the winning side against Real Madrid. The two European giants have met a total of six times in the UEFA Champions League since Kimmich’s arrival from RB Leipzig. However, despite six separate opportunities, Bayern have been unable to win one game, losing four and drawing two. The two sides will now duke it out once again in the Champions League quarterfinal, but this time, Kimmich and Bayern are ready (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

“We’re really looking forward to it,” said Kimmich after his sides 4-0 victory against Union Berlin. “Since I’ve been here we played Real Madrid several times – and we’ve always been knocked out. We weren’t often the worse team, we were often just unlucky. At some point it’s about time.. We’re feeling good and looking forward to it.”
Despite their recent shortcomings against Real Madrid — often times owing to extremely poor officiating — if there was ever going to be a time to beat Los Blancos, it’s now. Bayern are firing on all cylinders, while Madrid are flailing in the league in the aftermath Xabi Alonso’s sacking. Madrid have been particularly vulnerable in defense, a sore-spot Bayern will be sure to press as often as possible with their ruthless attack. Despite Die Rekordmeister coming in as clear favourites, Real Madrid is the one team you cannot underestimate, especially in the Champions League.
