Real Madrid prepare three-man shortlist to reinforce right-back position – report

Real Madrid are not waiting around, even in positions that were recently reinforced.

Less than a year after bringing in Trent Alexander-Arnold, the club is already reassessing the situation at right-back.

This is because on the ball, Alexander-Arnold remains what he has always been – creative, progressive, capable of changing games with a single pass.

However, the defensive side of his game has come under scrutiny.

At the same time, Dani Carvajal’s situation adds a severe moment of uncertainty.

The veteran right-back is no longer the dominant presence he once was, and while there is still trust in his experience, there are doubts about whether he can consistently perform at the required level.

With his contract nearing its end, the club is not in a position to wait and see.

That combination – inconsistency from one option and uncertainty around the other – has pushed Real Madrid into the market.

Real Madrid have started working

According to a recent report from SPORT, the club has already identified three potential targets as part of a shortlist for the summer window.

One of the names being seriously considered is Diogo Dalot.

The Manchester United full-back offers a more balanced profile. He is defensively solid, reliable in possession, and entering his prime years.

With a contract running until 2028 and a market value around €30 million, any deal would likely require an offer closer to €40 million to even start negotiations. He is seen as a safe option. Not spectacular, but dependable.

Then there is a very different profile of Kyriani Sabbe.

At just 21, the Belgian represents a long-term investment rather than an immediate solution.

Currently playing for Club Brugge, he is valued at a much lower fee, potentially around €10 million, making him an attractive option from a financial standpoint.

The third name on Madrid’s radar is Pedro Porro.

The Spanish full-back brings attacking intent and familiarity with La Liga demands, but his situation is more complicated.

Any potential move would depend heavily on Tottenham’s season, with a transfer only becoming realistic if circumstances force the English club into a sale.
