It was a particularly satisfying day at the plate for Riverton, especially after needing extra innings to stay undefeated in its past two games. On Tuesday night, its bats struggled against Copper Hills as it struck out 16 times, and didn’t pull away until the top of the ninth inning with five runs for the 6-1 win.
Then last Friday, it needed two runs in the top of eighth to beat Taylorsville 7-5.
Prior to that, Riverton had averaged nearly 12 runs per game in its first eight victories, winning by an average of nine runs. After a couple blips at the plate the past few games, Riverton’s bats were awakened on the road at Davis in improving to 11-0 this season.
Riverton’s batters have combined for 18 home runs this year and 26 doubles.
