Clemson (24-10 overall) is the No. 8 seed in the South Region and will face the No. 9 seed Iowa Hawkeyes in the first round of the tournament at Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida, on Friday.
The Tigers enter the tournament having lost six of their last 10 games dating back to Feb. 11 when they fell to Virginia Tech, 76-66, to begin a four-game losing streak.
Clemson knocked off Louisville on the penultimate weekend of the regular season and defeated North Carolina at the ACC Tournament to pick up two big Quad 1 victories down the stretch and quash any thoughts that the Tigers might miss the NCAA Tournament.
Iowa (21-12) also enters the tournament on a downward trend. The Hawkeyes have dropped seven of their last 10 games, including a 72-69 loss to Ohio State at the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday. Senior guard Bennett Stirtz leads Iowa in scoring with 20 points per game, followed by Tavion Banks' 10.5.
RJ Godfrey leads Clemson in scoring at 12 points per game. Carter Welling is second on the Tigers at 10.2 PPG, but the 6-foot-10 big man suffered a season-ending knee injury in Clemson's ACC Tournament win over Wake Forest on Wednesday.
Neither Clemson nor Iowa are ranked in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll or AP Top 25 poll entering the tournament.
