For prospects leading up to the NFL Draft, there are many things that can elevate or lower their draft stock. For Trojan Makai Lemon, there are going to be doubters who are not fully bought into him being the best receiver in this draft class. Whether it is his size, his speed, or even his presence at the podium, analysts and experts will try by any means to lessen his value. At his pro day last week, however, Lemon did not let the doubters win, putting on a strong showing.
In a recent tweet, ESPN NFL analyst Field Yates, expressed his confidence in Lemon after his pro day performance.

"Right in the range expected for Makai Lemon,” Yates wrote of his 40-yard dash time, which USC later announced as 4.46 seconds. “Solid outcome. Speed isn't the way he wins. His route running, run after catch skills, contact balance and catch radius are all areas that he thrives.”
Lemon did not have to blow away scouts with his 40 time; his film displays how effective he is at getting open. Lemon is just as strategic and smart when it comes to beating his man in coverage, and his 40 time gave confidence that he still can also be someone who can win on a go route. Makai Lemon should be viewed as the top wide receiver in this class, and his combine and pro day did nothing to hurt that case for him.
