Mumbai’s Ashwini Wins Double Gold; Darshana Claims Gold and Silver at Asmita Khelo India Women’s Kickboxing League

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Asmita Khelo India Women’s Kickboxing League was successfully held at the Divisional Sports Complex in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The event was inaugurated in the presence of Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Khadse.

Athletes from the Sports Kickboxing Association – Mumbai City delivered an outstanding performance in the competition. Ashwini Jambale showcased exceptional skill and determination, winning two gold medals in the Point Fight and Light Contact categories, achieving a remarkable double victory. Meanwhile, Darshana Aggaonane also impressed with her strong performance, securing a gold medal in Light Contact and a silver medal in the Point Fight category, making a significant mark in the tournament. Both athletes are from the Dharavi area of Mumbai and train regularly at Hanuman Seva Mandal Hall under the Shito-Ryu Sports Karate and Kickboxing Association (SSKKA). Under the guidance of Coach Wins Patil, they competed in the senior division and achieved notable success. During the competition, Vighnesh Murkar, an International and National Referee of WAKO, efficiently conducted the matches as the Tatami In-Charge, ensuring discipline and smooth execution of bouts. Senior referees Ashish Mahadik and Pradnesh Patwardhan also played crucial roles as Center Referees, maintaining control and fairness during the matches. The success of the athletes is credited to Coach Umesh Murkar, President of the Sports Kickboxing Association – Mumbai City and Shito-Ryu Sports Karate and Kickboxing Association (SSKKA). Under his leadership and training system, the team continues to grow steadily while focusing on the overall development of athletes. The President of Sports Kickboxing Association Maharashtra has consistently encouraged the team and also took the initiative to organize this competition in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
