Chelsea are likely to play a strong team to face Wrexham this evening, but there will be some tweaks.

Liam Delap is likely to get a game up top, keeping Joao Pedro fresh for our match against PSG next week. Ahead of the game, manager Liam Rosenior took the chance to talk up his backup striker.

“In Liam’s last game, he got three assists – he’s in a good place,” Rosenior said during his pre-match press conference, as featured on the club’s official website.

“You need a good group, and Joao Pedro is on fire, but that’s nothing on Liam – that’s Joao’s performance. That’s the level that we need to have, and I expect Liam, when he does get his opportunity, to take it and show his quality.

“It’s not about comparing players, it’s about respecting them for their individual strength. Liam will have his opportunities to play in big games, and it’s up to him to take them, and I’m confident that he will.”

Delap gets a great chance get fresh and get sharp

With JP in such good form, Delap isn’t going to be getting many starts this season unless there’s an injury. Despite what his manager says. The former Ipswich man isn’t going to be starting any big games.

But Rosenior is right – it’s vital to have a good backup who is confident and in form, and today gives Santos a great chance to do that.

In other news…

Andrey Santos is also likely to feature tonight, and he’s been speaking about how his game has developed.
