The Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears and New England Patriots all have a need at edge rusher.

All three teams figured to have interest in Maxx Crosby, but that dream is now dead after he was traded to the Baltimore Ravens on Friday night.

Dallas needs to add two starting edge rushers to its defense, while the Patriots and Bears need complements for Harold Landry and Montez Sweat, respectively.

Ahead of free agency, the edge rusher market is expected to get a bit bigger, as Aaron Wilson of Click2Houston.com is reporting the Houston Texans are not expected to re-sign veteran edge rusher Denico Autry.

Autry has spent the last two years with the Texans, tallying 6.5 sacks in 22 games in that span. The veteran missed six games in 2024 because of a suspension and five games in 2025 because of a knee injury.

He is long in the tooth (36 in July), but Autry would be a strong rotational piece for a defense looking for added edge rusher help and some versatility upfront with Autry's experience playing on the inside.

Autry is also a menace on special teams with over a dozen blocked kicks during his career, so that's an added bonus.

The Cowboys need a bigger addition at edge rusher than just Autry, but they also need to fill out the room and Autry would be a good addition in that regard.

Autry already has a connection to Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel from their days together with the Tennessee Titans, when the 35-year-old had the best years of his career.

In Chicago, the Bears could do a lot worse than having a rotation of Autry and Austin Booker opposite Sweat.
