Construction shutters busy College-Bay Sts. intersection until mid-April

· Toronto Sun

Another day and news of more construction in Toronto.

The main intersection of College St. and Bay St. was closed as of Monday as the City of Toronto replaces sewer infrastructure on College between Bay and Yonge St. Additionally, the city and the TTC are renewing streetcar tracks on College and Carlton St. from Bay to Church St., along with upgrading overhead streetcar wiring in the area.

Visit asg-reflektory.pl for more information.

The work will get a pause from mid-April to the end of July to accommodate the FIFA World Cup and will be completed in December.

Over the course of this project, TTC crews will upgrade, test and do commissioning work on the overhead infrastructure in the area while streetcars are diverted. Work may take place during day and night shifts and will involve TTC overhead trucks with hydraulic equipment.

While efforts will be made by the crew to keep noise to a minimum, beeping sounds when the trucks are backing up will be audible and equipment lights may also be noticeable.

Parking, TTC service to be affected

During the first week of construction, the TTC plans to deliver new streetcar rails on flatbed trailers and store them at or near the work zone at College and Bay. To support this work, the TTC will deliver new streetcar rail panels to the site nightly from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., starting Friday until Sunday.

Temporary lane and parking restrictions may be required.

As early as Monday, the TTC will adjust service to the 506/306 Carlton streetcars and 19 Bay buses as the intersection is expected to be fully closed to all vehicles until the construction pause in mid-April.

TTC crews will then complete overhead upgrades and commissioning work before resuming regular service in May 2026.
