SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Glen Kuiper's work for the San Francisco Giants next week will not be the end of his duties with the team - the former A's broadcaster, fired in 2023 for using a racial slur on two different occasions, will appear on regular-season radio broadcasts, too.

Rachel Heit, the Giants' chief marketing officer, told the Chronicle on Thursday that Kuiper will fill in on 10-15 games after the team held "definite conversations" about the controversial play-by-play announcer.

"The Giants are committed to inclusion, respect and earning our fans' trust," Heit said. "We had numerous conversations about the requirements for excellence we expect from our broadcasters. Glen's addition to the broadcast team is reflective of how he's approached his growth and what he's demonstrated from an accountability perspective."

Kuiper's apology in the wake of uttering a racial slur during a rapturous description of a trip to the Negro Leagues Museum earlier in the day went a long way, Heit said. "We believe Glen took full responsibility," she said.

News of Kuiper's larger broadcast role comes a day after the Chronicle reported he will do radio play-by-play for the Giants' exhibition game against Team USA on Tuesday at Scottsdale Stadium. It will be his first time calling an MLB game of any kind since 2023.

Kuiper increasingly has been around the Giants the past year or two; his brother, Duane, is of course San Francisco's longtime, wildly popular play-by-play man, and his other brother, Jeff, has worked on the team's TV productions since 1987. Glen and Duane hosted interview events at Oracle Park's Gotham Club after Friday night home games last year.

Joe Ritzo, the primary fill-in for radio play-by-play, will still be in the regular rotation, according to Heit.

The team has added another fill-in on the TV side, too. Former Giants starter Shawn Estes, who has worked on team broadcasts before, returns to the booth for 10-15 games, in part because Javier Lopez's new front office role as a special adviser will cut into some of his assignments.

The rest of the broadcast team from last year is back: Duane Kuiper, Mike Kurkow, Jon Miller, Dave Flemming, Hunter Pence, Lopez, F.P. Santangelo and Ritzo, and on the Spanish-language broadcasts, Erwin Higueros, Tito Fuentes and Carlos Orellana.

Briefly: Outfielder Heliot Ramos bleached his hair blond Wednesday, maintaining Team Puerto Rico's longstanding WBC tradition. He leaves for the event Sunday. … Marco Scutaro is the Giants alum helping out in camp this week; he'll be here for three days and he spent Thursday in close conversation with fellow Venezuelan Luis Arráez, who is spending the spring trying to improve his defense at second base. Scutaro, one of the stars of the Giants' 2012 postseason, was a solid middle infielder throughout his 13-year career.
