The San Francisco Giants are not having a good 2026 season, even though they've shown flashes of being a good team at times during the year.

At 21-31, the Giants are 11 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West, and they're very likely heading towards the 2026 trade deadline as sellers. The only question would be to what extent the team actually sells at the deadline.

Well, a rumor from USA Today's Bob Nightengale suggests that Giants fans might have to get ready to come to terms with the potential of a fan favorite starting pitcher, in $90 million ace Logan Webb, to be traded at this year's deadline.

Giants rumor has Logan Webb as trade candidate

"They soon will be entertaining offers for veteran starter Robbie Ray, and perhaps homegrown star Logan Webb, too, with all of their high-prized stars available to anyone and everyone," Nightengale writes.

While Nightengale isn't stating with conviction that Webb will be in trade talks, unlike what the case is with Robbie Ray, it does appear that Webb does have a decent chance to be moved based on this report.

Webb, the 29-year-old fan favorite ace, who is in the middle of a $90 million contract through the 2028 season, would be someone teams would surely have interest in.

Even though he's on the injured list at the moment, it would not be a surprise if he's off the IL and garners trade inquiries by the 2026 August 3rd trade deadline.

And while it would be incredibly sad to part with the fan favorite ace, it would make sense if the Giants could get a king's ransom for Webb at this year's deadline.

He's not likely to be traded at all this season, but he's at least someone fans will have to worry about seeing dealt this year based on this note from Nightengale.

Buster Posey is more likely to trade players like Webb, Luis Arraez, Tyler Mahle, or anyone else set to become a free agent after 2026.

But, fans can't write off Webb being dealt just yet, as Nightengale's report does open up the door for San Francisco to part with the beloved righty at this year's deadline.
